Traning Description
A 36-hour experiential training that teaches child interviewing skills to Montana law enforcement, child protection, and prosecutors.
Trainees Will Learn
- How to interview children who are victims of crime or abuse, and who witness crimes
- Child development factors in interviewing
- Understanding the process of victimization
- The purpose of the child abuse medical exam
- How to prepare a case for trial
- How to defend a forensic interview in court
- Skills to stay health
Training Costs
- Lodging: Paid by MCSART. Rooms will be reserved by DOJ at the Great Northern and DoubleTree Hotels in Helena.
- Meals: One lunch provided
- Mileage: Agency
- Tuition: No cost
How to Apply:
Trainees must complete an application. Demand for seats is high, and applicants are selected according to several criteria, including:
- Need for interviewers in your area
- MDT membership
- Interviewing children is a part of your job
- Need for updated training
- Turnover on existing teams
- Accredited programs
