Advanced Victim Advocacy Virtual Trainings

SEPTEMBER 22, 2022 (Thursday)
8:30 A.M. – 10:30 A.M. (MST)

LIVE via Zoom

Training Description

Normal sexual behavior, sexual health education and development are key topics children, adolescents, and families seek guidance and direction on. Unfortunately, they are not exposed to sex education materials but social pressures and what is portrayed in the media. And most of the content does not convey a culture that requires consent. Families need an education tool on this topic. This training will address how advocates can help families understand the disparities of sexual education and encourage facilitating open, and age-appropriate dialogue with youth to empower them to make informed decisions around their sexual health and identity. LGBTQI+ students are also at an elevated risk for violent relationships as their identities are often left out of the sexual health education narrative.
